🔗 How to Set Up Alexa
1Open the Alexa App
On your phone, open the Amazon Alexa app. If you do not have it, download it from the App Store or Google Play.
2Search for PointWiseSystem
Tap "More" → "Skills and Games" → Search for "PointWiseSystem"
3Enable the Skill
Tap on PointWiseSystem and tap "Enable to Use"
4Link Your Account
You will be redirected to log in to your PointWiseSystem account. Enter your email and password, then tap "Authorize" to connect.
5Start Using Voice Commands!
Say "Alexa, open PointWiseSystem" to get started, or try any of the commands below.
💡 Multiple Profiles?
If you have multiple profiles, Alexa will use your default profile. You can change your default profile in Settings.
🎤 Voice Commands
Here is what you can say to Alexa. Replace [name] with your earner name and [task] with the task name.
Check Points
"Alexa, ask PointWiseSystem how many points does [name] have"
🔊 "Emma has 47 points. She is 3 points away from her next reward!"
"Alexa, ask PointWiseSystem for [name] points"
🔊 "Jake currently has 32 points."
Complete Tasks
"Alexa, tell PointWiseSystem that [name] finished [task]"
🔊 "Got it! I have marked homework as complete for Jake. He earned 5 points and now has 37 total."
"Alexa, tell PointWiseSystem [name] did [task]"
🔊 "Done! Emma completed make bed and earned 5 points."
Add Bonus Points
"Alexa, tell PointWiseSystem to give [name] [number] points"
🔊 "Done! I have added 10 bonus points to Emma. She now has 57 points total."
Check Tasks
"Alexa, ask PointWiseSystem what tasks are left"

"Alexa, ask PointWiseSystem for today summary"

💡 Tips for Best Results
Use Clear Names
Alexa works best with common first names. If your earner has an unusual name or nickname, try using a more common spelling in PointWiseSystem.
Task Names
Keep task names short and simple for voice commands. "Make bed" works better than "Make your bed neatly every morning".
Quick Commands
Once you have opened the skill, you can give commands more quickly:
- First: "Alexa, open PointWiseSystem"
- Then just say: "How many points does Emma have?"
- Or: "Give Jake 5 points"
💡 Pro Tip: Create a Routine
In the Alexa app, you can create a routine like "Alexa, good morning" that automatically asks PointWiseSystem for today tasks!
🔧 Troubleshooting
"I cannot find the skill"
- Search for "PointWiseSystem" (one word) in the Alexa app
- Make sure you are searching in Skills and Games, not general search
"Alexa does not recognize the name"
- Try spelling the name phonetically in PointWiseSystem settings
- Use common first names when possible
- Say the name clearly and slowly
"Account linking failed"
- Make sure you are using the correct email and password
- Try disabling and re-enabling the skill
- Check that your PointWiseSystem account is active
"Alexa says she cannot find that task"
- Use the exact task name as it appears in PointWiseSystem
- Keep task names short (2-4 words work best)
- Try saying "list tasks" first to hear the exact names
Disconnect and Reconnect
If you are having persistent issues:
- Open Alexa app → Skills and Games → Your Skills
- Find PointWiseSystem and tap it
- Tap "Disable Skill"
- Wait 30 seconds, then enable it again
- Re-link your account
Privacy and Security
- Alexa only accesses your PointWiseSystem data when you ask
- Voice commands are processed by Amazon, not stored by PointWiseSystem
- You can disconnect Alexa at any time from the Alexa app
- Your PointWiseSystem password is never shared with Amazon
