What is Classroom Manager?

Classroom Manager is a separate page you open from your PointWiseSystem dashboard. It adds academic tools (gradebook, attendance, lesson plans) on top of the behavior-point system.

How to open it

From your dashboard, tap the 🏫 Classroom Manager button in the header bar. It opens as its own page.

The tab bar

12 tabs across the top. Some show a 🔒 lock — those require Classroom Plus. Tapping a locked tab shows an upgrade prompt.

Quick Award

⚡ Quick Award tab: pick a behavior, then tap a student.

How it works

  1. Open ⚡ Quick Award tab
  2. Behaviors split into Positive (green) and Negative (red)
  3. Tap a behavior — highlights, shows "Tap student: [name] (+N)"
  4. Tap a student card OR use dropdown + "Award"
  5. Points award instantly, total updates
Default award is +1: If you tap a student without selecting a behavior first, they get +1 point with description "Quick award." Always select a behavior before tapping students to get the correct point value.

Managing behaviors

⚙️ Manage: add/edit/delete behaviors (name, icon, points, reward/deduct).

Points can go negative: Awarding a -5 behavior to a student with 3 points puts them at -2. The system allows this. If a student's progress bar disappears from Class Overview, check if they're below zero.

Quick Actions (Dashboard)

Check In

Dashboard, right column, red left border. Flags students needing attention.

Check In card

  2. Absences — N+ days (default 2)
  3. Subject avg — below N% (default 70)
  4. GPA — below N (default 2.0)

Seating Chart

My Classes

Organize students by period or section. Classes control what you see everywhere else.

Creating a class

  1. 📚 My Classes tab → + Add Class
  2. Enter: Class Name (e.g. "Period 2 - Math"), Period, Grade Level, Room Number
  3. Save — card appears with colored left border

Assigning students

  1. Tap View Roster → on the class card
  2. See current roster with Remove buttons
  3. Tap Assign Students — checkboxes for all unassigned students
  4. Check students (or Select All), save

How classes connect

Deleting a class keeps all data: Grades are stored per student + subject, attendance per student + date. Neither is tied to a class. You lose the filter grouping, but no academic data is lost.
🔒 Plus feature Multi-class requires Classroom Plus. Free = one implicit class. See pricing →

Attendance

Mark daily attendance per student. Data feeds into Check In alerts and Progress reports automatically.

How to mark attendance

  1. Open the ✅ Attendance tab
  2. Today is pre-selected. Use date picker to view/edit past days.
  3. Each student: 4 buttons (✅ Present, ❌ Absent, ⏰ Late, 📝 Excused)
  4. Tap any status — saves immediately, button highlights.
  5. ✅ Mark All Present to bulk-mark everyone.

How attendance connects

Tip: Mark attendance first thing. "Mark All Present" then tap the 2-3 exceptions. The data powers your Check In alerts all day.
Streaks and Attendance: Marking a student Absent does NOT pause their streaks. Only Vacation mode and Schedule off-days protect streaks. If a student will miss multiple days, put them on Vacation instead of just marking Absent.

Gradebook, Grades & Subjects

Three tabs: Subjects (courses), Grades (scores), Gradebook (GPA + report cards).

Step 1: Run the Setup Wizard

Before entering grades, run the Quick Setup Wizard from the Gradebook tab. Tap ⚙️ Gradebook Setup. The wizard has 3 sections (each with a checkbox to include/skip):

  1. 🎓 School Year — name (e.g. "2025-2026 School Year"), start month, end month
  2. 📅 Grading Periods — pre-filled with Semester 1 and Semester 2 (dates editable). Add more with "+ Add Period". First period is auto-set as active.
  3. 📊 Grade Scale — pre-filled A-F scale (A=90-100/4.0, B=80-89/3.0, C=70-79/2.0, D=60-69/1.0, F=0-59/0.0). Edit letters, percentages, and GPA values. Add custom grades with "+ Add Grade".

Tap ✓ Confirm & Start Using Gradebook to save. Everything is editable later.

GPA requires the grade scale: If you enter grades but skip the Setup Wizard, GPA shows 0.00 for everyone. The system needs the A-F scale to convert percentages into GPA values. Run the wizard first.

Step 2: Create Subjects

📦 Subjects tab → + Add Subject (name, icon, color). Or tap "Load Defaults" for common subjects (Math, Science, English, etc.).

Step 3: Enter Grades

📝 Grades tab:

  1. + Add Grade: pick student, subject, assignment name, score out of max, date
  2. 📋 Bulk Entry: create one assignment, then enter scores for all students on one screen. Runs as individual inserts — if you run bulk entry twice with the same assignment name, students get duplicate entries. Delete extras from the grades list if this happens.

Grades organize by grading period. Switch periods with the dropdown. Create new ones with + New Semester. Mark the current one with ✓ Set Active.

Step 4: View GPA + Report Cards

📚 Gradebook tab shows each student with a GPA badge (green ≥3.5, yellow ≥2.5, red below) and per-subject letter grades + percentages. Report Card buttons generate a printable page per student.

Time Log tab

⏱️ Time Log: record instructional hours per student per subject. Tap + Log Time, select student, subject, duration (minutes), date, optional notes.

🔒 Plus feature All academic tabs require Classroom Plus. See pricing →

Lesson Plans

Plan your teaching week and track what you've actually covered.

Creating a lesson

  1. 📅 Lessons tab → + Add Lesson
  2. Title (e.g. "Ch. 5 Fractions"), Description/materials, Date, Duration (min)
  3. Save — card appears on the grid

Tracking status

Each card shows a colored badge. Tap to advance:

    How reports connect

Tip: Friday report + share link to parents. 30 seconds, builds trust, lets them see progress without asking.

    3. Turn off days they don't attend (e.g. Tue/Thu off for MWF student)
    4. Save

On off-days: "Off" badge shows, task cells show dashes, streaks unaffected.

    🏖️ Vacation (extended absence)

    1. Tap student → 🏖️ Vacation
