What are To-Do Lists?
To-Do Lists are one-off tasks you assign to earners. Unlike recurring tasks (which repeat daily/weekly), to-dos are things that need to happen once — like "Clean out the garage" or "Finish book report."
🎯 Priorities
Mark items as High, Medium, or Low priority. High-priority items sort to the top automatically.
📅 Due Dates
Set optional due dates. Items turn yellow (due soon) or red (overdue) to keep earners on track.
✅ Subtasks
Break big tasks into smaller steps. Earners can check off subtasks as they go.
⭐ Points
Assign optional point rewards. Points are awarded when the to-do is marked complete.
To-Dos vs Recurring Tasks
| To-Do Lists | Recurring Tasks |
| Frequency | One-time | Daily, weekly, or custom |
| Disappears when done | Yes — completed items clear at end of day | Resets next day/week |
| Due dates | Yes | No (always due today) |
| Subtasks | Yes | No |
| Priority levels | High / Medium / Low | No |
| Best for | Projects, homework, chores that happen once | Daily habits, routines, regular chores |
Creating a To-Do
1Find the To-Do section
On the dashboard, look for the To-Do section on each earner's card. Tap "+ Add" to create a new item.
2Enter the details
Give it a title (required). Optionally set priority, due date, points, and a description.
3Add subtasks (optional)
Break the task into smaller steps. Each subtask has its own checkbox earners can check off.
4Save
The to-do appears on the earner's card, sorted by priority (high first).
Completing a To-Do
When an earner finishes a to-do:
- Tap the checkbox next to the to-do title to mark it complete
- If points were assigned, they are awarded immediately
- Completed to-dos show with a strikethrough for the rest of the day, then disappear
- You can undo a completion by tapping the checkbox again
💡 Subtask Progress: Subtasks are independent — earners can check them off as they go, but the to-do itself is only "complete" when you mark the main item done.
Color Coding
To-dos are color-coded by due date to help earners prioritize:
- Green — Due date is more than 1 day away (plenty of time)
- Yellow — Due today or tomorrow (coming up soon)
- Red — Overdue (past the due date)
Items without a due date have no color indicator.
Editing and Deleting
- Edit: Tap a to-do to open the edit modal. Change the title, priority, due date, points, or subtasks.
- Delete: In the edit modal, tap "Delete" to permanently remove the to-do.
- Reorder: To-dos auto-sort by priority (High → Medium → Low). Within the same priority, they appear in the order created.
Earner Dashboard Access
Earners can view and interact with their to-dos from the Earner Dashboard:
- See all their active to-dos with priorities and due dates
- Check off subtasks as they work through them
- Mark to-dos complete when finished
💡 Note: Only parents/admins can create, edit, or delete to-dos. Earners can complete them and check off subtasks.
Free Tier Limits
On the Free plan, to-do lists have the following limits:
